On June 1st 2007, Patient Transport Services (PTS) in the regions of Bedforshire and Hertfordshire was taken over by Medical Service - owned by Lewis Day Transport PLC.
The privatisation of PTS to Medical Services from the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS) was opposed by a UNISON/EEAS partnership from the outset. Unfortunatly, the awarding consortium from the regions hospitals Trust's opted for priv
atisation.
The staff previously employed by EEAS have been transfered over to the Medical Services automatically with their salary and rights protected under law. UNISON is pleased to continue to represent this staff group who will be protected even with their new employers.
This page explains our work in representing our former PTS collegues. Jackie Robinson can be contacted by UNISON members now with Medical Services with any concerns.
Recently we have conducted and reported back on the initial site inspections on the Medical Services sites.
June Felstead, Brenda Palfreman and Neil Higgs have conducted indepth assessments and have highlighted some priorities, followed up by the suggestion that the sites are revisited after a 8 week period has elapsed which should allow them to resolve a large proportion of the risks highlighted to them.
