Health & Safety (HSE) Executive's website

Health and Safety within the workplace is probably one of the main aims of UNISON.
We appreciate that we have primary recognition within the Trust and as such we have sole access to meetings such as the Locality/Staff Partnership Forums (LPF/SPF) and the Service Delivery Board and therefore we need to address issues that affect any employee regardless of whether they are UNISON members or not.
Alan Chamberlain takes the lead role on issues regarding Health and Safety of all the Trust's employees. He can be contacted by email by clicking here ![]()
From this section on this website, we will make you aware of all the H&S issues currently being dealt with by UNISON. Please make your UNISON representative aware of any issues that you feel we should be investigating.

Health service union UNISON wants a national system to record all assaults on NHS staff. The call came in the wake of new figures from the NHS Security Management Services (NHS SMS), showing a small decrease in violence against NHS staff in England.
Karen Jennings, head of health for UNISON, said: 'We welcome the small reduction in attacks on NHS staff, but 55,700 assaults is still 55,700 too many. These figures only include physical assaults and those that have been reported. We know that many staff face verbal abuse and aggression and many attacks still go unreported, so the real figure is much higher.'
She added: 'If a national system for recording all assaults on NHS staff was implemented, the results, though shocking, would reveal the full extent of the problem. As it is, there are startling variations between Trusts, even among those with similar catchment areas.
Members are reminded of the importance of reporting ALL episodes of violence (including verbal and/or swearing) to the Trust's Health and Safety Dept.
