Annual Leave and Zonal allocation, Branch statement (Suffolk &
Norfolk)
Colleagues,
With regard to annual leave over the forthcoming Christmas 2011 and Olympics period 2012. As staff-side we have insisted that annual leave should be released by management over these periods. This should have now happened. With reference to the zonal application of leave during these periods it states that a system of fair allocation of leave should be agreed by the Local Partnership Forums.
We have asked management to produce evidence that using this method for allocating annual leave would be beneficial to staff and to the patients we serve. As yet we have failed to see any evidence that this method would benefit staff. Leave has now been released for the two periods mentioned above and as decreed by management has been allocated using the zonal method, before proper debate using the requested information as requested by staff-side has been produced.
Colleagues, we are continually asked to produce evidence to back up our concerns around issues we highlight, this now has to apply to management as well where they propose to change the way staff’s annual leave is allocated. Just to re-iterate we have asked for the leave to be released and the management have decreed this will be done by zonal allocation before right and proper evidenced negotiation.
PLEASE NOTE:-At no time have I, as Branch Secretary, or any of my staff-side officers signed off the zonal method of annual leave allocation , nor will we consider doing so until proper evidence is submitted and proper negotiations have taken place.
